Adam Kokesh, second-amendment rights activist, was arrested Tuesday night after police searched his Northern Virginia home and found hallucinogenic mushrooms and a gun.

Kokesh, a 31-year-old former U.S. Marine, is being charged with possession of schedule I or II drugs and possession of a firearm. He was held overnight at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and will be arraigned Thursday morning. They have also scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 2.

Washington Post reports that Kokesh posted a YouTube video on July 4 showing him load a shotgun at the Freedom Plaza, which is a few blocks from The White House.

Possession of a loaded weapon that is not registered in the District, concealed or unconcealed, is illegal. This could be punishable for up to a year in prison. The police that cover the area, called the U.S. Park Police, issued a search warrant of Kokesh’s home at about 7:45 pm Tuesday.

According to RT.com Kokesh verbalized his opinions on gun rights in the video.

“We will not be silent. We will not obey. We will not allow our government to destroy our humanity,” Kokesh said. “We are the final American Revolution. See you next Independence Day.”
