Helen Mirren has officially signed on to star in Dreamworks’ The Hundred Foot Journey, which is being co-produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey.

Deadline reported last month and confirmed today that author Richard C. Morais’ The Hundred Foot Journey was acquired by Spielberg’s studio as a project to star Mirren and be directed by Lasse Hallstrom. The plot centers on a rivalry between an Indian restaurant and a three-Michelin-star restaurant in France. Steve Knight penned the script.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mirren’s co-star will by Manish Dayal, who played Raj Kher in 90210. He also starred in ABC Family’s Switched at Birth, but The Hundred Foot Journey will be his first major film role.

Winfrey, Spielberg and Juliet Bake will produce. Disney has domestic distribution rights and will release it on Aug. 8, 2014. Disney also has distribution rights in other territories, while Mister Smith Entertainment is handling Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Reliance will distribute in India.

Mirren, who won an Oscar for The Queen, will next be seen in Red 2 on July 19.

Hallstrom’s recent credits include Dear John, Safe Haven and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
