Hugh Jackman and wife of 17 years, Deborra-Lee Furness recently spoke out against the constant rumors about Jackman’s sexuality and how accusations that the Australian actor is gay affects their marriage.

Jackman and Furness sat down on Australia’s 60 Minutes and explained that questions of Jackman’s heterosexuality constantly frustrate the two as a couple.

"It's, to me, not the most interesting thing about a person, anyway," Jackman said, according to The Huffington Post . "I do get frustrated for Deb, cause I see Deb go, 'Ah, this is just crazy!'"

While the actor says he sometimes finds accusations flattering, he says the small boost to his ego is a high price to pay for his wife’s aggravation. Furness says she finds the talk “offensive.”

"If he was gay, fine, he would say he's gay," she said. "It's annoying because it's not true."

The popular stage and screen actor told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year that the rumors were beginning to affect his marriage. When asked if the accusations had taken a toll on his personal life, the actor answered honestly, "Just recently, it bugs her," he said, referring to his wife. The Les Miserables star cited the Internet as the promoter of such rumors, saying the constant gossip on chat rooms and fan sites causes Furness to think the issue is too far out of their control.

"She goes: 'It's big. It's everywhere!'" the actor says of his wife’s reaction to media speculation.

X Men producer and close friend of the couple, Lauren Shuler Donner, also weighed in on the issue, saying that in all her time working with Jackman, including on the stage production of Oklahoma! , she has “never seen him eye anyone.”

“He was genuine, hugely talented,” Donner said. “He was in love with his wife that day and still is."
