As James Cameron starts working on Avatar 2, the director has reportedly picked writer Josh Friedman to work on the script for the highly anticipated follow-up to the highest-grossing film of all time.

TheWrap first reported the news, confirming that Friedman, who is best known for creating Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which featured characters created by Cameron for the Terminator franchise. Lightstorm COO Jon Landau and Fox refused to comment on the story.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron has remained in New Zealand recently, working on the script for Avatar 2. The new film is expected to hit theaters in 2015 and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana should be back.

Freidman’s credits also include Steven Spielberg’s war of the Worlds remake and Brian De Palma’s The Black Dahlia. On television, he wrote a pilot for Fox called Locke & Key and an episode of The Finder.

Avatar was released in 2009 and grossed $2.8 billion. It earned nine Oscar nominations, winning for cinematography, visual effects and art direction.
