James Franco has found time in his busy schedule to film a guest role on Fox’s The Mindy Project, which stars Mindy Kaling.
The network announced on Tuesday that Franco has been cast as Dr. Paul Leotard, the doctor who replaces Mindy at Shulman & Associates while she’s off in Haiti. Leotard was a former model, but when he fell off the runway and was saved by a pregnant woman, he decided to change his career to help pregnant women.
Frano will appear in the first two episodes of the show’s second season, which air on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 on Fox. The show will be keeping its 9:30 p.m. time slot from last season.
The Oscar-nominated actor was recently picked as the next target for a Comedy Central Roast special, which will air on Labor Day. He has made several television appearances in the past, including Freaks and Geeks and a stint on the ABC soap General Hospital.
In 2013, he starred in Oz The Great And Powerful and This Is The End and his adaptation of William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying opens on Sept. 27.
The Mindy Project is produced by Universal TV and 3 Arts Entertainment and was created by former Office actress and writer Kaling.
