Longtime Saturday Night Live writer and cast member Jason Sudeikis has confirmed that he is leaving the NBC sketch comedy show.

Sudeikis finally made a commitment to leaving during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Letterman asked him how long he had been on the show and the We’re The Millers star reminded him that he’d been a part of the show for a decade. Sudeikis began as a writer and after two seasons, he became a player in front of the camera.

Letterman then asked how long a person could stay on SNL. Sudeikis said that you could be on as long as you want, but he’s done. “Yeah, I’m gonna leave. I’m not coming back next fall,” Sudeikis said. They joked that someone at the show might not know this already. “I should have called them first,” Sudeikis laughed.

It isn’t really surprising at all that Sudeikis isn’t coming back. In May, he went on The View and said that he hadn’t made up his mind yet, but he was “probably” done.

“I gotta deal with saying goodbye to some near, dear friends that are definitely leaving and get that out of my head and go on vacation a little bit and mull it all over,” he said at the time.

We’re The Millers hits theaters on Aug. 7 and co-stars Jennifer Aniston. Sudeikis is currently engaged to actress Olivia Wilde.

Fred Armisen and Andy Samberg have also left SNL and Seth Meyers is only returning for half a season before he takes over the late night show slot after Jimmy Fallon on NBC in the winter.
