Ellen Grossman, the woman Jay-Z met on the subway last year, said in an interview that she likes the rapper’s new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail.
Back in December, Jay posted footage of the encounter with Grossman, in which the 67-year-old woman didn’t recognize him at first. At the end of the conversation, he tells her again that he’s Jay-Z and she replied, “Oh, you're Jay-Z! I know about Jay-Z.” The video went viral and she was interviewed several times about the encounter.
“I felt this amazing energy,” she told the New York Daily News. “We didn’t talk about anything terribly profound. But just the feeling! I thought, ‘This is wonderful!’”
MTV News called Grossman in to have her listen to Magna Carta Holy Grail, which will be released this week.
“I don't get all of the words but I get a lot of them and I'm really enjoying it,” she told MTV. “I like jazz and what's called 'new music' and I can relate to all the soundscapes, it's really innovative stuff.”

She spoke about several individual tracks, commenting on aspects of “Holy Grail” with Justin Timberlake, “BBC” and “Part II (On The Run)” with his wife, Beyonce.
“It was very sexy,” Grossman said about “Part II.” “I heard Jay-Z refer to himself as an outlaw and I think [Beyoncé's] response seemed to be that she would embrace it all. There's real connection and real willingness to show their vulnerability, even though I suspect they would want [their relationship to] remain private. What they're putting out in their art is really opening themselves up. It was pretty awesome.”
