Since releasing the already-platinum Magna Carta Holy Grail , rapper Jay-Z is revealing details about the album’s production and trying to work with friend and frequent collaborator, Kanye West.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on BBC’s Radio One , the 43-year-old said that he began recording his latest album immediately after he and West wrapped Watch the Throne .
"We had this whole plan when me and Kanye did [the] 'Watch The Throne' album that we would go right into our solos after that," Jay-Z told Lowe. "Soon as I thought we had wrapped up 'Watch the Throne,' I made two records -- I had 'Holy Grail' and 'Oceans.'"
The two tracks were collaborations with Justin Timberlake and Frank Ocean, respectively, and are featured on Magna Carta Holy Grail , but West originally wanted them on Watch the Throne featuring his rapping talents.
"Four days, four days literally arguing ... not like fighting. Well, there was some pushing at one point but not between us, just everyone else got a little excited," Jay-Z recalled, according to MTV .
"I was explaining to him why it wasn't right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called Magna Carta ... Holy Grail ," Jay-Z clarified.
Obviously, West did not win the four day argument with the “Picasso Baby” singer, but Kim Kardashian’s baby daddy has gone on to enjoy his own solo success with the recent release of his album, Yeezus .
