Jay-Z revealed the cover to his highly anticipated upcoming album, Magna Carta…Holy Grail, Wednesday.
The album cover was put on display at The Salisbury Cathedral in the United Kingdom, sitting alongside four of the 1215 surviving Magna Carta Documents, Life and Times reports.
Together with creative director Willo Perron and photographer Ari Marcopoulos, Jay-Z, the artsy black and white cover features two statues and his name in bold letters written across.
According to MTV, the two statues, a man and a woman, represent two opposing views. The church described the rappers inspiration drawn from the original Magna Carta saying, "Just as 1215 Magna Carta is a classic document, the classic image on the album cover represents the belief 'when opposing thoughts are combined, beauty is created…When a man and a woman unite - on the most basic level - they create life."
Jay-Z has offered a lot of fun in preparation of the albums debut. Just last week his rep sent fans on a scavenger hunt which in the end revealed the track list for the album.
Additionally, a free app will be made available on the Fourth of July which will give Holy Grail hopefuls more information surrounding the album and in inside free-listen to some of the albums tracks.
The cover art installation will remain on display throughout the month of July.
