Jay-Z is giving fans a glimpse into his dynamic with friend and collaborator Kanye West, telling BBC 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe that they had a four-day fight over two songs that appear on his solo album Magna Carta Holy Grail.

The rapper says he and West agreed that after Watch the Throne, their joint album, they would both go on to do solo albums – Jay’z Magna Carta and West’s Yeezus-- but before that, they had an argument over tracks that West wanted on their joint album but Jay-Z wanted on his solo album.

Jay-Z told Lowe "[There were] no lyrics on 'Holy Grail' and I recorded 'Oceans' and I played those records for Kanye. And he was like, 'No those have to go on 'Watch The Throne'', so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn't right for this project and I had a whole idea for making this album called 'Magna Carta'... 'Holy Grail' [part of] the name came after."

He added the fight was "four days, four days literally arguing... not like fighting. Well, there was some pushing at one point but not between us, just everyone else got a little excited."

According to NME, the two songs don’t appear on Watch the Throne, they’re on Jay-Z’s No. 1 album Magna Carta Holy Grail, so it looks like Jay-Z won this one.
