Joey Chestnut has won the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating championship in Coney Island for the seventh year in a row, eating 69 hot dogs on Thursday – breaking his own record.
Chestnut, known as “Jaws,” ate 69 hot dogs in just 10 minutes, taking home his seventh Mustard Yellow International Belt. Last year he ate 68 hot dogs.
The hot dog camp, 29, told The New York Daily News, “Seven is not the end. Ten is looking more and more likely.”
Chestnut beat out the runner-up, Matt Stonie, by 18 hot dogs, The AP notes. He has also bested his rival, Takeru “The Tsunami” Kobayashi, who has six titles and ended his reign in 2007 when he ate 66 hot dogs and the duration was still 12 minutes.
In the women’s division, Sonya "Black Widow" Thomas emerged victorious by eating 37 hot dogs. Last year she ate 45.
The Nathan’s Hot Dog eating championship has been a tradition since 1916.
