Karmin posted a new music video for their song “Acapella” on July 13.

The duo brought a piece of the 90’s back, which is similar to Destiny’s Child “Say My Name” and Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).” The couple is shown in bold outfits alongside dancers in front of a Mercedes, and an all-green living room.

“There’s some of that swagger. Hype Williams would be really great to work with but yeah, we definitely stole some of his ideas. He defined those videos I think in the ‘90s and 2000s,” Amy Heiderman told MTV.

They also incorporated choreography in the video, which they have never done before.

“To be honest I was a little hesitant in the beginning, I was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’” Nick Noonan said regarding the chorography. “If it looks terrible we’ve got to be straight up with ourselves though. You don’t put a square into a round hole; you know what I’m saying?”

Karmin also expressed they would like to work with Shaggy to add more of a retro feel to their upcoming LP, which is expected to drop in September via Epic Records according to Ace Showbiz. The song is also expected to be featured on the album.
