Katy Perry has officially taken the Twitter crown from Lady Gaga, who was long dubbed the queen of the Twitterverse.

As ABC News reports, Perry now holds the crown having 800,000 more followers than the mother monster, who has 39,244,649 followers. Both women still follow 19-year-old singer Justin Bieber who has well over 42 million Twitter followers.

Bieber has long been dubbed the King of Twitter, beating out Gaga who once held the most Twitter followers back in January.

In April it was unclear if Bieber would be able to hold the title after a study reportedly showed that 16.7 million of his followers were deemed fake and 2.3 million as inactive.

Perry, who is dating off-again, on-again love John Mayer, hasn’t officially addressed her new unofficial title. The “Firework” songstress is busy promoting her newest fragrance, “Killer Queen” set for release later this year.

Bieber, Perry and Gaga remain safe at the top as the most followed celebs, Rideoffame reports that they are trailed by President Barack Obama, Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
