In a lengthy Facebook post, Lady Gaga announced the release date for her new album, ARTPOP, and an accompanying mobile app.
Gaga posted the message with a photo, showing off the tattoo with the album’s name that she got in August 2012. The post notes that the first single will be out on Aug. 19, with preorders for the album and app starting on Sept. 1. The album will finalyl be released on Nov. 11.
The text that accompanied the announcement has the artistic flourish Gaga fans might expect. It notes that the app was developed by HAUS OF GAGA’s TechHAUS.
“The app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology with a new interactive worldwide community — 'the auras.' Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition,” the statement reads, notes MTV News.
As for the album itself, it “musically mirrors Gaga's creative process as she passes through the mediums of each artist she collaborates with, scoring a blueprint of her journey.” It doesn’t mention who she worked with on the album, but notes that it is a “‘rage’ of electronic passion and fury.”
Gaga is also hosting an ‘artRAVE’ on Nov. 10 that will show off projects from artists Robert Wilson, Jeff Koons, Marina Abramovic and fashion photographers Inez and Vindooh.
The “Born This Way” singer has been largely absent from public view since she injured her hip and had to cancel the 2013 dates on her Born This Way Ball tour. E! News reported that she was spotted walking around New York City, wearing only a bra, a skirt and high heels.
