M.I.A’s teaser video for a documentary that was going to go along with her upcoming album Matangi was pulled by her label Roc Nation, which then caused the director to quit.
Former director Steve Loveridge leaked the teaser, which was originally made last year, yesterday via his Tumblr account to get M.I.A’s label to “wake up” according to NME.
“I get an e-mail every few weeks from Rock Nation or Interscope saying it’s all going to start up again, but then nothing,” he said.
Loveridge then posted an e-mail he received from Roc Nation saying leaking the video “screws with everything we’ve been working on setting up Matangi.” Loveridge then responded with, “I really couldn’t give a flying fuck. Count me out. Would rather die than work on this . . . nothing personal :).”
This is not the first time M.I.A has had trouble with her label. Her upcoming album was originally set to release in late 2012 but her label claimed it was “too positive.” There is currently no release date for Matangi.
