Maroon 5 is working on their follow-up to Overexposed.
The band is still promoting the 2012 album but their guitarist James Valentine said a follow-up is in the future.
“It’s still sort of in the early stages. We definitely have a couple of amazing songs that will be on the record,” Valentine told Billboard. “I think we just really like making music now, and I think we’re more prolific than ever. But at the same time it’s going to be awhile before the record comes out . . . But we’ve got some great stuff started, and we’re all very excited.”
Since the album in the early stages there is not a direction on where the album is going to go. Valentine added some songs are darker than their previous material but in the next months the album will become more focused Capital FM reports.
The band is starting the Honda Civic Tour on Aug. 1 in St. Louis, Mo. Kelly Clarkson and rotating acts such as Tony Lucca who signed on to Adam Lavine’s 222 Record label will open.
