British supermodel Jourdan Dunn was cut from Christian Dior’s couture show in Paris yesterday because of her breast size.
Dunn, 22, sounded off about her dismissal from the Dior show on her Twitter , telling her nearly 88,000 followers that it was her size 32A chest that cost her the show.
“Ahahahahaha,” Dunn wrote, “Cancelled from Dior because of my boobs! I Vogue UK reports. Dunn ended the tweet with the hashtag “#CoutureTorture.”
The model expressed that she was neither upset about the cut nor surprised, following up the initial tweet by saying she is normally dismissed from shows because of the color of her skin.
“'I'm normally told I'm cancelled because I'm 'coloured' so being cancelled because off [sic] my boobs is a minor,” the model, who is of Jamaican heritage wrote, The Daily Mail reports.
Models in the Dior show wore sheer tops and dresses that exposed their breasts. Whether creative director Raf Simmons really thought Dunn would be putting too much on display is unclear, but the head of the house of Dior has been criticized for using exclusively white models in his shows.
“I feel the Dior cast is just so pointedly white that it feels deliberate,” James Scully, head of model casting at Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, and others, said in March. “I watch that show and it bothers me - I almost can’t even concentrate on the clothes because of the cast. And recently they’re changing from a very diverse, worldwide, multicultural cast to just a very Germanic-looking white girl.”
It seems Dunn has bounced back from her Dior rejection, posting on Twitter today that she was “off to do a cameo in a music vid!”
