NBC’s The Voice may get all the attention, but the network does have another singing competition - The Sing-Off. The series is coming back for a fourth season, which will air in the winter and Nick Lachey is coming back to host again. Jewel has also signed on as a new judge.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jewel is replacing Sara Bareilles and will be joined by Shawn Stockman and Ben Folds. The series features a capella groups competing.
“There are very few musical artists as accomplished and talented as Jewel. Her addition to The Sing-Off judges panel, along with our stellar team of Shawn Stockman and Ben Folds, raises the showmanship of the series up another notch,” Paul Telegdy, NBC's president of alternative and late-night programming, commented about the judges.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the series was shelved in 2012, but the network revived it for a fourth season when The Voice’s Mark Burnett became executive producer.
The Sing-Off debuted in 2009 and switched to a weekly series in 2011. The fourth season will air in the winter during the holidays over several nights in a row. It will fill the schedule following The Voice’s fall season.
Jewel recently released a greatest hits album and played June Carter Cash in the Lifetime biopic Ring of Fire.
