Nicki Minaj broke her silence on the whole DJ Khaled proposal. She talked to Funkmaster Flex on Monday night and said that the whole thing was indeed a ploy to build anticipation for Khaled's newest single.
It was being reported by many news outlets that Khaled's proposal was serious after a video hit the internet of him proposing to Minaj. Since the video hit the web Khaled himself, along with Rick Ross said that this was no joke and that Khaled really loved Minaj.
After the proposal Minaj was seen out rocking a huge ring which didn't help quiet the rumors of this being a serious proposal reports the Los Angeles Times. DJ Khaled apparently spent around $500 thousand on a ring for Ms. Minaj.
On Monday night though Minaj made it very clear that this was just to build anticipation for Khaled's new single which is featuring Nicki, Rick Ross, and Future.
“I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world ’cause Khaled is a master at what he does,” said Minaj according to Hotnewhiphop, "Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya’ll. Please let it go. He was kidding. He’s not attracted to me, he doesn’t like me. We’re brother and sister."
The plan definitely worked as that video had everyone talking about if this proposal was real. Now we have heard it from Nicki Minaj herself that it was all a marketing strategy, and one that worked well.
