Randy Jackson is producing Motown icon Smoky Robinson new album – out this fall.
The album will be released through Verve Records and is Jackson’s first project since leaving American Idol The Hollywood Reporter reports.
“Randy Jackson is a longtime friend, a great musician and an amazing, experienced record producer. I’m honored and very happy to be working with him. He’s my brother,” Robinson said.
The album will feature songs written by Robinson, songs from his former group The Miracles and feature other artists such as Marvin Gaye and The Temptations. It is Robinson’s 29 album overall and first via Verve.
Jackson adds, “It’s my utmost pleasure to produce this amazing duets records with the legend Smokey Robinson. He is one of the most incredible songwriters of all time. It’s going to be hot!”
According to Classic Hits Robinson revealed his plans during his appearance on American Idol in March. A few weeks later Jackson announced he was leaving the show.
