'Borat' star, Sasha Baron Cohen has pulled out of his role as rock legend, Freddie Mercury, in upcoming biopic.
Baron Cohen had been working on a biopic that would capture the career and life of Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury. Baron Cohen has now decided to withdrawal from the project. His exit is credited to "creative differences," reports BBCNews. Funnyman Baron Cohen and producers could not agree on the tone of the film.
According to EOnline Baron Cohen wanted to portray Mercury in an edgier light. Queen's remaining band members, who have approval over the script and director, did not agree with his approach and felt that the tone of the film should be more family-friendly.
The band members are also in charge of the movie's soundtrack. Baron Cohen was to perform Queen's iconic songs in the film. DailyMail reports that with the star's exit, not only is the direction of the film's soundtrack unknown, but the entire movie may be in jeopardy.
