Tegan and Sara made the short list of acts in the running for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize.

The announcement was made by founder Steve Jordan. Kathleen Edwards and Shad will host the event on Sept. 23 in Toronto Billboard reports.

The list includes METZ, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Zaki Ibrahim, Colin Stetson, A tribe Called Red, Whitehorse and Young Galaxy.

“This moody and exciting list is proof that the ‘Canadian sound’ has no stylistic boundaries. In equal measure we welcome the seven rookies and three repeat nominees to this year’s Short List,” Jordan said.

The winner will be decided by an 11-member jury at the gala Rolling Stone reports. The winner will receive $30,000 and the runners up will receive $2,000 each.

The list was originally compiled by jurors who submitted their top five full-length albums that were released between June and May 2013.

Past winners include Feist (2012), Arcade Fire (2011), Karkwa (2010), Fucked Up (2009), Caribou (2008), and Patrick Watson (2007).
