The Eagles are playing the reopening of the Forum in January.
The Forum is a Los Angeles concert venue that ran from the 1960s to 1999 Billboard reports. The Eagles have played the venue multiple times in 1975, 1976, and 1979. They are scheduled to play on Jan. 15, 17, and 18.
“The building is a grand dame of all these [arenas], the first of its kind. It sounded great when we were rehearsing there. There’s something about it and I don’t [know] why it sounds the way it does,” Glenn Frey said.
Other musical guest who played at the Forum include Led Zeppelin, who played at the venue 16 times, The Rolling Stones, Queen, AC/DC, David Bowie, Neil Young, Morrissey, and Paul Simon.
Remodeling the Forum will cost The Madison Square Garden Co. $100 million.
The venue holds the largest stage in the U.S. built for live music and entertainment. There are no scoreboards or ice rinks to get rid of before the show.
“Most of southern California has great memories here, be it sports or concerts, and I’m so happy they saves the building because it was almost too late, Joe Walsh said to Rolling Stone. “And we just tear everything down and build condos, and it’s nice to have a little bit of heritage. It’s not for sports, it’s for music and it’s gonna be state of the art.”
