Torn is the debut novel from author K.A. Robinson. Once the novel was released on Amazon it was on Amazon’s Kindle Top 100 for a month.
Torn is about a spunky girl named Chloe. Chloe hasn’t had an easy life living with her abusive and crazy mother that is in and out of her life. Senior year has finally come to an end and Chloe is on her way to West Virginia University. She can’t wait to leave her haunting past behind and start fresh with her two best friends Amber and Logan.
On her first day of class she sets her eyes on a gorgeous tattooed and pierced bad boys, Drake, who takes her breath away. They have a class together and the connection and attraction between them ignites. Drake who is a charming womanizer is drawn to Chloe and makes him contemplate being in a relationship.
Both Drake and Chloe have had a tragic past. Drake lost his parents and has no family. The only people that care about Drake is his band. Drake and Chloe come close to being together but he pushes her away because he doesn’t feel like it will work out. Heartbroken, Chloe runs in the arms of her best friend. Logan has been in love with Chloe from the moment he laid eyes on her. Chloe has never noticed and thought they had a platonic bond. One night changes it all and they engage in a relationship.
Chloe still longs for Drake and her carnal desire takes over. While Chloe and Drake are studying one things leads to another and results in her cheating on Logan. Chloe cheats on Logan more than once and it leaves her feeling guilty and dirty but still continues in the activity.
The book had realistic issues and quirky relatable characters. At times the book reminded me of Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens with it’s jaw dropping love triangle and charming rock star bad boy. Despite having similarities Robinson is a talented writer that captures your interests with the themes of love and redemption.
Drake and Chloe’s story continues in the sequel Twisted. They found their happy ending but it is tested with Chloe’s evil mother coming back into her life. Drake is faced with temptation of the life of being a rock star. Can their love overcome all the obstacles? Torn and Twisted are an angst and a romantic story with love triangles and rock n’ roll swagger.
