Giant creatures ascending from the ocean are attacking the world in Pacific Rim. The robots that are supposed to put a stop to them aren’t working. The only hope for humanity is an old robot, a former pilot and a rookie. The PG-13 sci-fi action film runs for two hours and eleven minutes. It’s available in 2D, 3D and IMAX theaters.
A man’s world shatters when he finds out that the coffee shop he uses as his office is going to become a trendy night spot in Coffee Town. Despite having to find a new office space, the transformation will also stop his chances of starting a relationship with one of the beanery’s regular customers. In order to keep the space the way it is, He thinks that he has to make it appear that the shop is in a bad area so investors will change their minds. The unrated, romantic comedy stars It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton alongside singer Josh Groban. The one hour and twenty-seven minute film is playing in limited theaters.
A road trip in Chile with friends gets interesting when a kooky woman joins the group in Crystal Fairy. A few butt heads during their journey to get a hold of a drug called the San Pedro Cactus. Once they finally consume it, everyone begins to loosen up. The unrated, comedic drama stars Michael Cera and Gaby Hoffmann. It’s playing in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-eight minutes.
A young man looks to get a new start on life on New Year’s Eve in Fruitvale Station. Based on real events, the limited released drama tells the story of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, a young man who was involved in the notorious San Francisco police shooting in 2008. The one hour and twenty-five minute drama is available in limited theaters. It’s rated R for violence, language and drugs.
Two Bosnian war veterans battle it out in the Appalachian Mountains in Killing Season. The friendship between an American and a European tourist takes a violent turn when the tourist’s real desires are revealed. The limited released film stars Robert De Niro, John Travolta and Milo Ventimiglia. The action thriller runs for one hour and thirty minutes. It’s rated R for violence, language and sex.
Set in a small town in the South, Pawn Shop Chronicles tells three different stories about people with ties to articles in a pawn shop. An interesting group of people walk through the doors of the shop including the husband of a kidnapped woman, meth addicts and an Elvis impersonator. Paul Walker, Norman Reedus, Elijah Wood, Brendan Fraser, Vincent D'Onofrio, Thomas Jane, Matt Dillon, Lukas Haas, DJ Qualls, Chi McBride, Ashlee Simpson star in the comedic action film. The limited released film runs for one hour and fifty-two minutes. It’s rated R for violence, sex, nudity, language and drugs.

They play middle-aged women who raise money for breast cancer awareness by playing basketball against the Texas high school champions. Moviegoers can get a scare this week with V/H/S 2, but beginning July 19, it’s The Conjuring who will have people covering their eyes in fear. Among the other films hitting theaters next week are R.I.P.D, Red 2 and Turbo.
