A Mexican volcano has erupted near the capital, and it has effected flights from the United States to Mexico.
The Popocatepetl volcano spewed out a cloud of ash and vapors 2 miles high over a part of Mexico about 40 miles east of Mexico City. The eruption spanned over a few days and was at its peak between Friday night and Saturday morning reports USA Today. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/07/06/mexico-volcano/2495333/
The 15,000 foot volcano has stopped spitting out ash as of Saturday evening, but because there was rainfall on Friday evening the ash has reached landfall.
Because of these unexpected events there have been many flights cancelled over the past few days. A total of 600 passengers ave been stranded and six airlines cancelled around forty flights without much information reports Aljazeera. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/americas/2013/07/20137653311929577.html
Most of the flights cancelled due to the volcano were precautionary, and now that the volcano has stopped erupting it seems as though flights will start to run on a normal schedule.
