The “haunted” 1730s era home in Burrillville, Rhode Island that is featured in the number one box office film The Conjuring is becoming a nightmare for the current owners.

Although the couple who lives there does not believe in ghosts, it’s the publicity that the movie has given their house that’s causing them stress.

“We haven’t slept in days,” homeowner Norma Sutcliffe told The Call. “Because we wake up at 2 in the morning there are people with flashlights in our yard. People call on the phone and ask is this ‘The Conjuring’ house?”

Sutcliffe is upset that the movie’s publicists marketed the film as based on a true story from Rhode Island and put up pictures of her house.

“Our barn is very vulnerable and there is a big story connected to the barn about supposed hangings,” Sutcliffe frets. “Can you see kids breaking in and doing a séance with candles and having it burn down?”

According to NBC, the Sutcliffes bought the farmhouse 25 years ago from the Perrons, who are the family that was supposedly haunted and is featured in the film.
