A day of fun turned to tragedy after a woman died after falling off of a Six Flags amusement park roller coaster called “The Texas Giant.” Officials are currently investigating whether or not the woman was properly strapped into the coaster prior to her death Friday evening.

According to People, the unidentified woman was riding on amusement parks self-proclaimed tallest steel-hybrid coaster in the world in North Texas alongside her son when she fell out of the coaster. Officials are not confirming exactly how she died, but eye witnesses explain that she fell out of the coaster.

Carmen Brown, who was waiting in line behind the deceased, tells Dallas News that the victim expressed concern to an employee regarding her restraints.

“He was basically nonchalant,” Brown said. “He was, like, ‘As long as you heard it click, you’re fine.’ Hers was the only one that went down once, and she didn’t feel safe. But they let her still get on the ride.”

“The lady basically tumbled over,” Brown adds. “We heard her screaming. We were, like, ‘Did she just fall?’”

The park shut down the Texas Giant, but the remainder of the park remained open.

Six Flags has released a statement following the accident saying, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. The investigation into the death at Texas Giant is still ongoing. We are working closely with authorities to determine the cause of the accident. The ride will remain closed. In addition, we have canceled the concert that was scheduled for today."
