A woman fell to her death on Six Flags Over Texas’ “Texas Giant” roller coaster yesterday evening.
The woman was catapulted out of her seat as the coaster went around a turn shortly after 6:30pm Friday. Although Six Flags has made no comment on the victim’s cause of death, according to CBS, witnesses believe that her safety restraint failed.
A woman who was in line with the victim told Dallas News, “The lady basically tumbled over. We heard her screaming. We were, like, ‘Did she just fall?’”
Other park guests reported to the Star Telegram that they witnessed a young man and woman on the coaster from which the woman had fallen, screaming “My mom! My mom! Let us out, we need to go get her!”
Six Flags Over Texas boasts that the “Texas Giant” wooden coaster “delivers beyond vertical banked turns and the world's steepest drop.” The section of the park containing the coaster is closed for investigation until further notice.
