Paul Deneve, who recently left his job as CEO of Yves Saint Laurent, has been named the new Vice President of Special Projects at Apple, where he worked between 1990 and 1997 in sales and marketing.

Deneve will be replaced at the beginning of September by Francesca Bellettini of Bottega Veneta, according to Apple Insider. YSL’s creative director Hedi Slimane will take on Deneve’s responsibilities concerning “all strategic projects for the brand.”

Deneve, who will work directly for Tim Cook, has previously worked at Courreges, Lanvin, and Nina Ricci, reports Fast Company.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Paul Deneve to Apple,” the company said in a statement.

Apple Insider speculates that Deneve’s luxury expertise may come in handy with a product such as the potential iWatch, which Apple recently trademarked.

Deneve’s experience as CEO and president of a successful fashion and luxury goods brand may also help the brand expand globally, since the iPhone has created new demand for their products outside the U.S.

Deneve will fill the empty position left by John Browett, who was dismissed in October.
