Horrible Bosses 2, the sequel to the 2011 hit, will not be directed by the first film’s director, Seth Gordon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, Gordon spoke with stars Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day personally on Wednesday to tell them that he wouldn't be back. He cited a packed schedule, which includes the new ABC sitcom The Goldbergs along with other projects he has in the pipeline.

New Line Cinema is still hoping to make the sequel, which makes sense since the original was a surprise hit in 2011. According to TheWrap, the story about three friends plotting to murder each others’ bosses scored $200 million worldwide. It only cost the studio $35 million to produce, so it is not searching for a new director.

Horrible Bosses co-starred Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell.

Gordon recently directed Identity Thief, which was a huge hit for Universal earlier this year. The film starred Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.
