As a girl who grew up in middle-of-nowhere farm town, U.S.A., I’ve always had an appreciation for country music. I grew up with the country greats like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Alabama, Dolly Parton, and George Strait coming from my speakers. I’m always quite intrigued when any music marvel releases a new album. While searching for some much-needed musical inspiration, I came across Alabama & Friends. Set to release August 27, 2013, Alabama is celebrating their 40th anniversary together.
Country music stars like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, and Toby Keith are recording popular Alabama songs. The album features duets between some of the acts and members of Alabama on some tracks. Each artist breathes unique life into Alabama’s hit singles. Some, like Jamey Johnson and Trisha Yearwood are remaining true to tradition, while others, like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, and Jason Aldean bring a bit of their edge to the mix. The album also contains two new tracks performed by Alabama.
According to the band’s website, their Back to the Bowery Tour will be making stops all over the U.S. This includes a stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The Ryman is one place everyone should experience live music. What I'd give to be there!
If you’re a sap for a bit of music nostalgia, then check it out. It’s currently available for pre-order. Here’s a track listing to further peak your interest:
