Angelina Jolie made a surprising appearance at Anaheim’s D23 Expo this Saturday. She and her four year old daughter, Vivienne, will co-star in the live action film Maleficent, a live action movie of Sleeping Beauty.
Jolie talked about her costume in the film which includes glowing, red eyes, ruby red lips, and most importantly, the horns. USA Today writes about how Jolie gushed over the horns she got to wear. “I miss them,” she said, “I love them.”
However, it did not go so well with other children when Jolie tried to approach them in her Maleficent costume. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jolie said with laughter, “People with little kids would visit set, and I would think, ‘I’m a Disney character’" and I would go over to the children, and they'd scream and run off. One little kid even said, 'Mommy, please tell the mean witch to stop talking to me.' I guess we did a good job."
Jolie mentioned that Vivienne was the only child not to scream when she saw her in her costume.
Maleficent will have similar themes from the original story but with a different point of view. The question of why Maleficent wants to curse Aurora will finally be answered.
Studio Production Chief Sean Bailey said, “it will include many allusions to that earlier film. We’ll see the epic battle with of the dragon, but this time, just maybe, we may find ourselves rooting for the other side.”
Maleficent is scheduled to be released in 2015.
