The biggest surprise at the summer box office was Now You See Me. Because it was against big blockbusters like The Hangover III and The Lone Ranger, it wasn’t expected to make nearly as much. However, due to its original script, it ended up doing a lot better than both of those movies. Because of its big success, Lionsgate CEO, Jon Feltheimer announced on Friday that a sequel is now being planned for 2014.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Now You See Me pulled in over 115million on their memorial day debut and 119 million at their international box office. While it has yet to open in Australia, China, or Japan, Feltheimer predicts that the thriller will hit over 200 million internationally.
The Inquistr notes that there hasn’t been a screenwriter attached yet. All that came was the simple announcement. No one even knows if the original cast, Jesse Eisenburg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, and Mark Ruffalo, will even return. Since they all have big projects coming up in their future, it is completely up in the air.
