Avenged Sevenfold, who is often abbreviated as A7X, is a hard rock metal band from Huntington Beach, California. The band consists of tattooed front man M. Shadows, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Synyster Gates, bass guitarist Johnny Christ, and drummer and percussionist Arin Ilejay.

The single “Hail To The King” is the first single and title track from their upcoming fifth studio album that is due out August 27.

About the upcoming album M. Shadows told Kerrang! Magazine, “I don’t know if I can say too much about it just now, but I can tell you what it’s not, which is almost as important. I look around now and I see a lot of heavy rock bands and metal bands getting into dustup and electronics and incorporating this new fashionable shit into their sound. That’s not us. We’re not interested in that. If anything, we’re going almost in the opposite direction by going even more old school. I mean, we’re going way back on this, to an album Black Sabbath-esque bluesy type thing, with some of the heaviest sounds we’ve ever made.”

“Hail To The King” does justice to M. Shadows vision with its sinister and dark ambient sound and vivid imagery the lyrics portray. The single channels the classic heavy metal sound that will make any diehard metal fan banging their head through out the song.

The guitar solo in the beginning is flawless with the heavy drumbeat and gives an edgy and seductive vibe as M. Shadow sings the catchy chorus, “Hail to the king/Hail to the one/Kneel to the crown/ Stand in the sun/ Hail to the king...”

In addition to working on their album and getting ready for their upcoming tour A7X has also released a Xbox 360 controller. Metal Underground reports, “…Matthew Shadows, is an avid gamer who has been using a SCUF controller for over 1 year has recently been competing at Major League Gaming’s last event at Anaheim, California with his Call Of Duty Team. Included with the SCUF Avenged will be a signed certificate from the band!"

A7X teamed up with Scuf Gaming to create their unique controller. It has a dramatic and dark black and white color scheme. The controller shows off their signature image a skull and bat wings.

To pay tribute to their upcoming album A7X will play a free show on August 26th, at the Hollywood Palladium to thank fans.
