Contra Costa County’s search and rescue team found a woman’s body near a park in Laguna Valley Park in Vacaville, California on Friday.
Federal investigator Sandra Coke disappeared Sunday, August 4. She was last seen with former boyfriend Randy Alana, local newspaper Contra Costa Times reports.
Authorities have not confirmed if the woman found near the park is Coke.
"We are waiting official confirmation on the identity of the body and then, after that, the next process will be to notify the next of kin," said Oakland police Lt. Henderson Jordan during a press conference announcing the discovery, Contra Costa Times reports.
Tanya Coke, Sandra’s sister, released a statement to the press.
“We are enormously grateful for the efforts of everyone - law enforcement, colleagues and friends of Sandra, and members of the public and the media - who have labored day and night - to find Sandra," the statement read, the Associated Press reports.
Police arrested Alana on Tuesday, August 6, for an unrelated probation violation. He is a registered sex offender. Authorities are holding him without bail because they consider him to be a high-risk offender who has convictions for rape and kidnapping, the Associated Press reports.
