Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has fought the fact that the characters in the superhero team are largely unknown to the general public by packing the film with big stars. The James Gunn-directed project has even attracted stars in small supporting parts, including Vin Diesel who’s set to voice Groot, a talking tree. Now Bradley Cooper may be in the mix for the other completely CGI character, Rocket Racoon.
According to a report from Latino Review, Cooper is Gunn’s “dream guy” for the role. The site says it was told by sources in England that Marvel just made the offer to Cooper.
The film is set to open on Aug. 1, 2014, but Cooper’s voice is all that’s needed so it shouldn’t take up too much from his busy schedule if he accepts the deal. The Silver Linings Playbook star will likely be working on American Sniper next and he’s also going to produce a Lance Armstrong film that he may star in. Audiences will see him next in American Hustle in December.
Diesel confirmed last week that he is in talks for the role of Groot. The main cast for the film includes Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana.
