The Man of Steel sequel rumor mill has not stopped churning since Comic-Con, when Warner Bros. announced that Batman would be introduced. In addition to all the speculation on who will play the caped crusader, there has been talk about the villains, including Lex Luthor, who was not in Man of Steel.
Bryan Cranston, who has gone bad - and bald - in Breaking Bad, spoke with Metro while promoting the AMC show’s final season. He said that he might be interested in playing Lex Luther, another bald character.
“Give me a call,” Cranston told the site with a smile. “I like Lex Luthor. I think he’s misunderstood. He’s a loveable, sweet man.”
Cranston did add that his wife may have something to say about that, though, since “She wasn’t so keen on the bald head,” he explained. He said that she thought it aged him.
Meanwhile, there is still no clue as to who will play Batman, as Christian Bale sounded very sure in an Entertainment Weekly interview last month that he really, really doesn’t want to wear the cape and cowl again. But then the U.K. Press Association reported that there have been reports that he was offered $50 million to play Batman again.
“Why would Christian Bale walk away from what is certainly going to be either the first or second highest grossing movie in the history of cinema?” a source said in an unauthorized book titled Beyond Batman: The Unauthorised True Story of Christian Bale and His Dark Knight Dilemma. “He could probably make 50 million dollars for being in the movie 20 minutes. And it would be worth every penny to the studio.”
According to The Huffington Post, there was another rumor from the U.K.’s Express that Orlando Bloom is a frontrunner.
Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for 2015, with Henry Cavill playing Superman again and Zack Snyder directing.
