To celebrate her 21st Birthday, chart-topping artist Demi Lovato did not ask for what most 21-year-old girls would ask for! Instead, she invited all her closest friends and her family to the Masai Mara Region of Kenya through the Me to We volunteer company!
Just last month, Joe Jonas also travelled to Kenya through Me to We and now Lovato has been inspired to try it out as well! Just like Jonas, Lovato has been volunteering and working alongside the local community members to build a new school.
Also as part of the trip, Lovato has been learning a lot more about their culture and everyday life by partaking in local activities such as a beading session, trekking up the mountain to get water and a customary water walk.
Lovato tweeted in response to her outing, “Having the best birthday ever in Africa with @freethechildren!!!” and the joy doesn’t stop there! Just today, Lovato tweeted that she has been given a goat for her Birthday by one of the local communities. She states, “Btw... No big deal or anything but... One of Maasai communities gave me a GOAT for my birthday!!!!!! ...I named him billy.”
It sure sounds a like Birthday blast! With all the volunteer work and good she has done for the community, we are sure all her Birthday wishes will come true!
