Chris Brown did suffer a seizure early Friday, his rep confirmed in a statement released Friday night. In the statement, the singer blamed the seizure on “extreme emotional stress” caused by mounting “unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.”

“Chris suffered a nonepileptic seizure (NES),” the statement reads, notes The Hollywood Reporter. “His doctor tended to him this afternoon and attributes the NES to intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.”

The seizure was first reported after TMZ and E! News got confirmation from the Los Angeles City Fire Department that they had received a call from the Record Plant recording studio that someone was suffering a seizure. Officials wouldn’t confirm the identity of the person, but Brown’s on-again,off-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran asked for “prayers all day” on Twitter. That lead to PrayForChrisBrown trending on Twitter.

Brown has been dealing with legal troubles, following a May hit-and-run incident. earlier in the week, he spent 45 minutes at the Van Nuys jail, where he turned himself in to be booked. Just hours after that, he told fans on Twitter that his next album, X, will be his last.

“Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album,” he wrote in a tweet, which has now been deleted. He did send another tweet a few hours ago that read, “They won't love u until u r a memory.”
