Chris Brown may be done with the hit and run case form May, but now that his probation has been reinstated, he will have to cancel a series of Canadian shows planned for August and September.
In a statement to E! News, Drop Entertainment Group owner Stephen Tobin, who promoted the shows, explained, “After ongoing conversation and consultation with this year's headline act Chris Brown, and in light of the performer's recent personal and health-related issues, a decision has been made to cancel all four scheduled performances.”
Tobin added, “In the absence of a festival headliner, we cannot proceed. We will start planning immediately for next year's events and the Energy/Summer Rush series will be back in 2014, bigger and better than ever.”
The shows were part of a touring festival called the Energy Rush Festival that ran from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. Brown would have performed in Toronto, Halifax, Saint John and Winnipeg.
The news comes after a judge reinstated his probation last week and was ordered to do another 1,000 hours of community service. Brown is still under probation for the 2009 beating of his ex-girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna. This time, the judge is making sure that the community service is done under the supervision in Los Angeles.
Brown had escaped hit-and-run charges for an incident in May, days after he had a seizure at a recording studio. A statement from his rep blamed the seizure on “intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.”
Brown is currently working on his next album, X.
