Christopher Nolan is working on his first post-Dark Knight trilogy film, Interstellar, a project that has drawn several famous Hollywood faces, starting with Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. Paramount and Warner Bros., which are co-producing the film, said today that shooting started in Alberta, Canada.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, most of the plot details have been kept under wraps, but we do know that it’s about explorers using a wormhole to go farther into space than any human before in an interstellar voyage.
The LA Times notes that WB and Paramount stressed that Nolan is using IMAX and 35mm anamorphic cameras. Unlike most current big-budget filmmakers, Nolan has yet to use 3D cameras.
The cast is packed with big names, including McConaughey, Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Caine, Wes Bentley,Topher Grace, John Lithgow and David Oyelowo.
Nolan wrote the script with his brother, Jonathan Nolan. Hans Zimmer is scoring the film and Nolan’s wife, Emma Thomas, is co-producing.
Interstellar hits theaters on Nov. 7, 2014.
