The cover for Drake’s new album Nothing Was the Same, made by artist Kadir Nelson, was rumored to pay homage to Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. When it first came out, many on Twitter wondered why the “Started From the Bottom” rapper was featuring the famous baby on his album, but he’s now denying it’s her.
In the image, Drake and a young child with an Afro are staring at each other, with a blue sky in the background.
Us Weekly reports, however, that he recently said it’s supposed to depict his younger self.
That didn’t stop people from reacting on Twitter:

Others wrote, "Why is Blue Ivy on Drake's album cover?" and "Drake put Blue Ivy Carter on his new album art #notmad.”
But Drake cleared up the rumors, telling MTV, "It's a child version of myself staring at myself now. Sometimes when I try and think back on this journey, it's so hard to pinpoint all of these moments and it gets foggy.”
He added, Even on past albums when I've been trying to tell this story, I've got there, but maybe not got there all the way. And what that album art is to me is, like, this is my most clean, concise thoughts from now, and my best recollection of then. That's really what that cover's about."
