Nowadays it is commonplace for rappers to delay their albums, for whatever variety of reasons. Drake is the latest to take part in this trend, as he has pushed back the release of his new album "Nothing Was The Same". Luckily for Drake's fans though, it was only pushed back one week to September 24.
Drake and his people have not provided a reason as to why the release is being delayed, but typically the reason comes back to clearing samples. Hip hop music features a lot of samples in the production and if they are not cleared the artist could be subject to a lawsuit, especially if the music is available for purchase.
The new release date coincides with Drake's upcoming world tour which kicks off on September 25 reports BET.com. To accompany the news of the week long delay, Drakes go to producer, Noah "40" Shebib, tweeted that the album is almost done.
Drake has been releasing a lot of music lately with his album set to release, but the majority of the songs he's released won't appear on his album. Only two ("Started From The Bottom" and "Hold On, We're Going Home") are considered official singles for the album. A tracklist has still not been made available to the public, but Pitchfork reports that the album will feature Jay Z, Hudson Mohawke and Lil Wayne.
In other Drake news that came out on Wednesday, Drake tweeted that he is set to perform at the VMA's on Sunday reports MTV.com. Drake is part of a star studded lineup, and he will perform "Started From The Bottom" for the first time on television.
