Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has a goal of getting the world's 7 billion people online through large technological partnerships.

According to Bloomberg, Zuckerberg believes that connectivity should be accessible to everyone because the Internet unites people with loved ones and grants global knowledge.

The 29-year-old billionaire and CEO of the largest social media site in the world has been on a mission to meet his goal for nine years and so far, has integrated one-third of the world online. There are still, however, five million people around the world who do not have access to the Internet.

Zuckerberg has partnered with big-name companies such as Qualcomm, Nokia, Samsung and Ericsson and come up with a project that has potential to speed up the process. However, industry analysts believe Zuckerberg's plan may be ridden with technological problems that could significantly slow down progress.

Experts also say that countries that are in political turmoil or in remote areas are likely to take longer to integrate.

According to Computerworld, integrating the rest of the world could take up to 20 more years.
