Fans of the Bourne series will be excited to learn that a fifth Bourne film is in the works.
Deadline reports that Anthony Peckham has been hired to pen film which will focus on The Bourne Legacy’s Aaron Cross, played by Jeremy Renner. In 2012’s Bourne Legacy, Renner starred alongside Rachel Weisz, Scott Glenn and Edward Norton in the action film which went along the same time period as the The Bourne Identity which starred Matt Damon.
Deadline notes that it is unclear if Damon will return to the spinoff films to reprise his role as Jason Bourne, as Damon has expressed that he will not return without director Paul Greengrass.
Discussions for the film are currently in the early stage and no plot lines or additional stars have been signed on as of yet. Vulture reports that it is also unclear if Bourne Legacy writer Tony Gilroy will return for the fifth film as well.
