The details on the Foo Fighters coming together and making music again in 2014 is still a bit cryptic and hazy. Front man Dave Grohl told XFM, “Well, I'll tell you, we have been in our studio writing and in the past few weeks we've written an album and we are going to make this album in a way that no-one's ever done before and we're pretty excited about it”
In hopes that Grohl is saying the truth about the bang reuniting it will be there eighth LP, following the 2011 Wasting Light.
Grohl continued to say in the interview, “"It's a little ways off - it's not ready to happen right now but I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question. It's going to be great, I can't wait.”
Rolling Stone reports The Foo Fighters have been out of the limelight once Grohl wrote on his Facebook last October that the band was going on a hiatus. He wrote "I'm not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again." This left fans and the music world to question if that was the end of the band.
Lead guitarist Chris Shiflett knew that they would come back together. Shiflett told Rolling Stone, "I knew we weren't done, but I just thought it'd be a little longer. But whatever – it's good. It's good getting back to work."
Shiflett also said that the band has yet to start recording the new material but have been rehearsing. Due to the brief hiatus that the Foo Fighters took Shiflett immersed himself in his side projects. His side band geared toward a country twang since Shiflett was listening to a lot of old honky-tonk music.
Shiflett reassures that his honk-tonk influence will not be in the new Foo Fighters album. He joked saying he would try to sneak a banjo in, "I'll see if I can slip one in on the next album when no one's looking, Dave will go, 'Who put that f****ing banjo on there?'"
Lets hope that 2014 is the golden year for Foo Fighters as we patiently wait for their groundbreaking new album.
