A studio in Peoria, Ill., Green Show Studio, launched a singer/songwriter contest earlier this summer and one emotional submission ended up affecting the lives of those who read it so much so that they turned it into a single.
Fred Stobaugh, 96, who admits he has no musicality whatsoever, submitted a love song he wrote for his wife of almost 73 years who passed away in April.
The song starts, “Oh sweet Lorraine, I wish we could do all the good times over again. Oh sweet Lorraine, life only goes around once but never again,” People reports.
A documentary was made on the song, which is now going viral.
In it, Stobaugh says about his wife, "After she passed away, I was just sitting in the front room one evening by myself, and it just came right to me. I just kept humming it and singing it ... It just fit her."
The Peoria Journal Star reports Lorraine passed away at age 91 in April, just two months before their would-be 73rd wedding anniversary.
