New details are continuing to surface surrounding the death of former Bachelor contestant Gia Allemand.
Allemand, 29, was hospitalized Tuesday for, at the time, undisclosed reasons. The former Bachelor contestant was said to be in “critical” condition following a “serious medical emergency.”
Her health did not improve in the following hours, and friends of the model beauty explained that Allemand was on life support. She died Wednesday afternoon following reports that she attempted suicide.
Sources have confirmed that Allemand died after hanging herself in her home, TMZ reports. Her boyfriend, NBA star Ryan Anderson, found her hanging and unconscious in her home and called 911. Allemand died after suffering a lack of oxygen to her brain and was determined brain dead.
Her family released a statement following her death saying, "Tuesday, Ms. Allemand remained in the hospital unconscious in critical condition and on life support. Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today. Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites."
