James Cameron, known best for the Terminator, Titanic, and Avatar is celebrating his 59th birthday today, August 16th. Born in Kapuskasing, Canada, Cameron has recently become known for more than just his directing, producing, and writing of films. Throughout his more main stream directing, he also spent many years working on documentary films about underwater exploration. On March 26, 2012 Cameron reached the bottom of the ocean at the deepest part in the Mariana Trench in the Challenger Deep. He is the first person to do this in a solo descent. In 2012 Cameron was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.

He has been nominated for six Academy Awards, winning three for Titanic. In 2005 when Cameron started planning for Avatar, he was also planning Battle Angel, an adaptation of the manga series Battle Angel Alita. By 2006 he decided Avatar would be filmed first. In August 2013 Cameron announced that there would be three sequels to Avatar, and they would all be filming simultaneously. In an article in the New York Times Cameron spoke very passionately about making movies, referring to Avatar, for himself, and not making other people's movies.

Cameron has several other upcoming projects including a film on the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima as told by a survivor, whom he met just days before he died. He is also committed to adapting The Informationist novel.

TheCelebrityCafe.com wishes James Cameron a happy birthday and more future success.
